The Rathskeller would be one of several locations housing Fall Fest.

Spring gets to have all the fun. Students look forward to spring for many reasons: the snow finally disappears, Spring Weekend rapidly approaches, graduation nears and summer vacation is on the horizon. With all the attention on spring, where is the love for fall? The Campus Activities Board (CAB) has answered that question with their plans for a new week-long Fall Fest. CAB, in conjunction with the Student Government Association (SGA), has planned a week of activities on campus from Sunday, Oct. 14, to Saturday, Oct. 20, to help boost Bonaventure pride on campus and in the local community.

CAB officials do not expect Fall Fest to be on the same scale as Spring Weekend but still expect a good turnout.

"We would like this to be an annual event," Amber Pietrobono, CAB president, said. "We will review the events and participation to see how we can make it bigger and better next year."

On top of trying to boost Bona pride, CAB decided to put together Fall Fest to improve patronage to the Rathskeller. In addition to the food specials being put on throughout Fall Fest, CAB is sponsoring Monday Night Football specials on game nights in The Rathskeller.

Pietrobono; Scott Glanville, CAB vice president; and Curtis Middlebrooks, SGA president, hope Fall Fest will strike a chord with the student body and that all four classes will participate.

"We want to boost the morale on campus among the students, give back to the community and build a stronger bond between St. Bonaventure students and the Olean/Allegany community," Middlebrooks said.

SGA looks to strengthen the connection between local communities and campus through "Bona Pride Days."

On Friday, Oct. 19, students can donate a non-perishable food item or old but wearable clothing item. In return, the student will receive a "Bona Pride" T-shirt. On other Bona Pride Days throughout the year, students can receive discounts at different local businesses and restaurants if they are wearing their t-shirts.
